ATACMS Hit a Military Target on Russian Territory for the First Time: Operation Details.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces Made a Historic Attack on Russian Territory
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have attacked Russian territory with ATACMS ballistic missiles for the first Time in history. This attack was carried out after receiving permission from U.S. President Joe Biden.
According to Yuriy Butusov, editor-in-chief of the Censor.NET website, on the night of November 19, 2024, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with other Defense Forces units, successfully attacked an arsenal of the logistics support center near the city of Karachev in the Bryansk region.
As of 2:30 AM, 12 secondary explosions and detonations were registered in the target area, reported the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Military command confirms that strikes on the ammunition depots of Russian occupiers will continue to halt the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
Use of Long-Range Weapons Against Russia
It is worth noting that earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened to strike NATO forces if Ukraine used long-range weapons against Russian territory.
According to Butusov, the use of long-range weapons, while not leading to an immediate turnaround in the war, will significantly reduce the logistics and maneuverability of Russian troops in the border areas. Moreover, it will force the enemy to spread air defense systems over large distances deep into Russia.
We remind that the EU's chief diplomat, Josep Borrell, previously confirmed that the U.S. had granted Ukraine permission to use missiles with a range of up to 300 kilometers for strikes on Russian territory, and also called on the EU to provide similar permission for the use of TAURUS cruise missiles and other weapons.
