Drone Attack in Belgorod Region, Russia Unwilling to Agree to Ceasefire with Ukraine: Key Highlights of the Night.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, stated that Russia does not agree to a ceasefire with Ukraine and demands reliable agreements to resolve the causes of the conflict. He refers to statements made by President Putin, who declared that Russia would not avoid negotiations with Ukraine. Lavrov also mentioned that Russia does not expect a ceasefire in 2025.
The Governor of Belgorod Region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, reported a drone attack and a power outage in six localities. He stated that the attack was carried out using drones from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, decided to dismiss Oleksiy Makeiev from the position of Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany and appoint Yevhen Korniychuk in his place. It is noted that this decision may be related to criticism of Makeiev by former ambassador Andrii Melnyk.
The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation plan to conclude a new agreement on strategic partnership before the inauguration of US President Donald Trump. This indicates an attempt to unite these two countries amid growing isolation on the international stage. Romania will close 30 border crossing points with other European Union countries from January 1, 2025, as it becomes a full member of the Schengen Area. However, selective document checks may still occur at the borders.
