Ukrainian Armed Forces dealt devastating strikes on airfields in Crimea and Sochi: how this will affect the war.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out strikes on airfields in Crimea and Sochi aimed at reducing the activity of tactical aviation of the Russian Armed Forces. This information was shared on air by military expert Reserve Major Oleksiy Hetman.
Consequences of the attacks on Crimea
The strikes on the airfields in Crimea and Sochi are not expected to stop attacks from strategic aviation, including the MiG-31 with Kinzhal missiles. However, these strikes will significantly complicate the actions of the enemy's tactical aviation. This may prevent the use of Su-34 and Su-35 aircraft, which launch guided aerial bombs (GABs) against Ukraine. According to Hetman, the strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine may also target enemy facilities with ballistic missiles.
'The airfields in Saky and Sochi — that is exactly where tactical aviation is based. There is information that 5 have been destroyed. I want to believe that this was our ballistic missile, as there is information that we already have our own ballistic missiles and have begun to use them on the front line.', — Hetman said.
The expert also emphasized that the West should allow Ukraine to carry out attacks on Russian territory at any distance. It is worth reminding that earlier the Armed Forces of Ukraine indicated their focus on the air defense system in Crimea, as well as on the withdrawal of enemy ships in the Black Sea.
