Ukrainian soldiers who were taken prisoner by Russian occupiers in New York were first threatened with posthumous abuse and then shot. This was reported by fighters of the 12th special purpose brigade "Azov".

“The drone recorded the moment of the occupiers' brutal crime. The Russians shot three unarmed Ukrainian soldiers from one of the adjacent units point-blank,” - the post states.

After that, "Azov" fighters, together with the 49th separate assault battalion, captured one of the occupiers whom they managed to find. He was the one from the group that shot Ukrainian soldiers.

The captured Russian testified during interrogation about systematic killings of prisoners committed by his unit. Moreover, he confirmed that Russian military even kill their own soldiers for refusing to participate in "meat" assaults.

Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets has already expressed his reaction to this crime.

In his capacity as Ukrainian Ombudsman, he demands that the international community respond to these violations of the Geneva Convention on the treatment of prisoners of war and international humanitarian law. Therefore, he is sending letters to the UN and the ICRC (Red Cross) asking to consider this incident in New York.

Lubinets also noted that such behavior by the Russian military is possible only with the support of their leaders, so it is necessary to document and investigate each crime and impose appropriate punishment.

The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, also appealed to the UN and the ICRC regarding the shooting of 16 Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Pokrovsk direction.

It is worth mentioning that the independent international commission of the UN, investigating violations in Ukraine, has found new evidence of the torture of Ukrainian civilians and prisoners of war by Russia in the occupied territories of Ukraine and in the Russian Federation.
