The European Parliament has approved the visa-free regime reform
The European Parliament has adopted a new reform concerning the visa-free regime for citizens of third countries. This reform allows for the temporary or permanent suspension of visa-free access for individuals who may stay briefly in the Schengen zone. 518 deputies voted in favor, 96 were against, and 24 abstained. Among the 61 countries to which the new rule applies is Ukraine.Reasons for the suspension of visa-free access may include hybrid threats, 'golden passports,' and other violations of the EU's visa policy. The European Union will also be able to restrict the visa-free regime for officials from violating countries. Additionally, the agreement on the liberalization of cargo transport has been extended until 2027.New entry and exit system
The European Parliament has also approved the implementation of a new Entry/Exit System for the EU's external borders, which will replace physical stamps in passports with electronic records.According to inkorr.com: This reform is of great importance for Ukrainian citizens as the visa-free regime facilitates travel to EU countries. However, the new rules may significantly impact freedom of movement, so it is important to monitor their implementation and possible changes. Additionally, the enhancement of the entry and exit system may provide greater security at the borders of the European Union.
