State funding for Ukraine's military cannot be replaced by donations, says commander Andriy Biletskyi.
The Critical Role of Support for Ukraine's Armed Forces
According to Novyny.live: Andriy Biletskyi, commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 3rd Army Corps, has highlighted the importance of donations in sustaining the military. While acknowledging that local communities provide subsidies, he stressed that state budget financing remains the primary source of army support.
“People continue to donate, and these are substantial sums—without them, we simply could not maintain this level of capability,” Biletskyi stated.
He further emphasized that replacing state funding and supplies is simply not feasible.
“At times, donations cover dozens of percentage points of the overall need,” the commander noted.
In response to these challenges, the Ministry of Defense's introduction of direct subsidies for drone procurement has become a key step in equipping the military with essential resources. As of the time of the interview, Ukraine's army receives ammunition through centralized channels, which also boosts its effectiveness on the front lines. Biletskyi underscored that 'infantry should not be treated as expendable on the battlefield,' stressing the need for proper support for troops. These remarks highlight the importance of a comprehensive approach to funding and resource provision for Ukraine's Armed Forces amid modern challenges.
Funding Challenges for the Military
The reliance on both donations and state funding to support Ukraine's army underscores the difficulties the country faces during wartime. The involvement of communities in financing the military reflects societal unity and a willingness to help, but without stable government funding, the army could encounter serious obstacles in meeting its needs. Continued efforts to optimize resources and maintain military support remain critically important for the effectiveness of Ukraine's defense capabilities.
