Despite a positive meeting between US envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, the White House administration plans to impose sanctions. The official stated that the Russians express a desire to cooperate with the United States, but preparations should be made for the introduction of secondary sanctions from the US side.
Meeting of Witkoff and Putin
The meeting between the US envoy and the Russian president lasted about three hours, aimed at finding ways to end the war in Ukraine. Earlier, Ukraine had already imposed sanctions against Russia, hoping for the support of allies in efforts to end the conflict.
