Deputy Dmytro Razumkov Accused of Populist Rhetoric

According to TSN.ua: Blogger Yevhen Prokopyshyn has publicly criticized Deputy Dmytro Razumkov for what he describes as populist behavior, particularly regarding the state budget and funding for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Razumkov has repeatedly voiced concerns about insufficient military funding. In December 2025, he opposed a proposed salary increase for members of parliament. However, Prokopyshyn notes that three months have passed since then, and not a single hryvnia from Razumkov’s own salary supplements has been contributed to the AFU.

The Reality of Military Funding

To date, over 6 million hryvnias have been allocated to the AFU, but Prokopyshyn argues that this does not compensate for Razumkov’s lack of tangible action. He views such conduct as a clear example of populism and hypocrisy.

Prokopyshyn further stated, “This is exactly what populism and cynicism look like—traits Razumkov likely picked up from his mentors in the Party of Regions.”

This criticism highlights the urgent need for concrete actions in supporting the AFU during a time of military challenges. With the defense sector facing financial constraints, any delay in decision-making or insufficient support from lawmakers could undermine Ukraine’s ability to maintain its defense capabilities. Prokopyshyn’s remarks may also reflect broader public frustration with politicians’ performance in this critical area.
