Battles for Vuhledar: British intelligence gave a forecast for next week.
According to a report by the British Ministry of Defense's military intelligence, Russian occupation forces are approaching Vuhledar from three sides, and this process may continue next week. Intelligence officers also note that Russian forces are already attacking the outskirts of the city. Fighting is also taking place in the area of the eastern half of Toretsk and south of Pokrovsk, but the Russian progress there is slow. Intelligence officers suggest that Russian forces are attacking several targets simultaneously to stretch Ukrainian forces, but this has not allowed Russia to concentrate forces at one point. The Institute for the Study of War also believes that capturing Vuhledar will not give Russian troops any significant operational advantage. For two years, the 72nd Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been defending Vuhledar, but now it is threatened with encirclement as Russian forces continue to advance north of the city. The brigade's commander, Ivan Vynnyk, has already been relieved of his duties. Russian occupiers have also made attempts to capture Kurakhove and Vuhledar to prevent the redeployment of Ukrainian troops to reinforce Pokrovsk's defense.
