Brazil May Develop Nuclear Weapons: What the Minister Said Amid Security Threats.
According to inkorr.com: The Minister of Mining and Energy of Brazil, Alexandre Silveira, stated that under the complicated international situation, the country may consider the possibility of developing nuclear weapons. He emphasized that these issues require careful discussion.
"If the situation in the world continues to develop as it is now, these restrictions will need to be lifted. In the future, we will also need nuclear technologies for national defense," Silveira noted.
Brazil has all the necessary elements to implement nuclear technologies for military purposes: a complete nuclear fuel cycle and significant uranium reserves. The minister stressed that such a step may become necessary in the long term.
"The world is moving towards the unfortunate necessity of developing defensive tools," he noted.
It should be reminded that Brazil already had experience in developing nuclear weapons from 1964 to 1985, but in 1990 the country abandoned this program. Currently, the possibility of returning to nuclear technologies is being studied in the context of changes in international politics.
Assessment of the Nuclear Potential of Russia and China
According to the Pentagon, Russia continues to develop its nuclear arsenal even during the war with Ukraine. Meanwhile, China is actively expanding its nuclear capabilities, adding nearly as much weaponry to its arsenal in the last two years as the United Kingdom.
Experts forecast that in the event of a global nuclear conflict, billions of people may face starvation within eight years after the war ends.
The Brazilian minister's statement regarding the possibility of developing nuclear weapons highlights that, in the global context of nuclear technologies, the situation is becoming increasingly tense. It is important to consider the potential consequences of such decisions for international security and stability in the world. These discussions may have far-reaching implications for regional and global security, taking into account existing conflicts and tensions in international relations.
