Why Large Families in Ukraine Must Give Up Their Deferment Status Before Applying for a New Exemption from Mobilization.
Understanding the Process of Booking and Deferment from Military Service
According to Novyny.live: For conscript-eligible citizens in Ukraine, particularly those with three or more children, the path to obtaining a deferment from mobilization requires careful navigation of administrative procedures. One crucial step involves canceling an existing work-related reservation before a new exemption can be granted.
According to legal expert Yuriy Ayvazyan,
“If you plan to receive a deferment due to having three children, you must first be removed from your current reservation by asking your employer to do so. Only then can you obtain the deferment on this basis by applying to a Citizen Service Center (TsNAP).”Mobilization exemptions are available to conscripts who are raising at least three minor children.
Limitations in the Deferment Application Process
Applying for a deferment remotely comes with restrictions. For instance, if a child was born abroad, the parent cannot process the exemption through the 'Reserve+' online system. Vladyslav Deriy explained,
“You will not be able to apply for a deferment via 'Reserve+' because all three birth certificates must be registered in the 'Diya' app.”To use a foreign birth certificate in Ukraine, it must be apostilled and accompanied by a notarized Ukrainian translation.
Starting in April 2024, the booking process in Ukraine will undergo significant changes, as the government plans to introduce regular audits of enterprises. This could substantially affect how reservations and deferments are managed for those liable for military service.
These evolving rules for booking and deferment—especially for parents of many children—highlight the importance of following every procedural requirement. With the upcoming enterprise inspections scheduled for April 2024, citizens should prepare for potential complications and shifts in the legislation governing mobilization.
