The Czech Ministry of the Interior did not register an increase in the arrival of refugees from Ukraine

The Czech Ministry of the Interior has not yet recorded a greater number of arrivals of refugees from Ukraine due to the intensification of Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. This was stated by the Minister of the Interior of the Czech Republic, Vít Rakušan, as reported by ct24.

The Minister of the Interior of the Czech Republic, Vít Rakušan, reported that the Ministry of the Interior has not recorded an increase in the number of refugees from Ukraine due to the increase in Russian attacks on the country's energy infrastructure. This information was provided by ct24.

Rakušan noted that Czechia expected a greater number of applications for temporary protection from Ukrainians in December and the second half of November, as attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure continued.

“However, it turned out that their number decreased from 2,000 per week that we had in October to about 1,700 per week,” he added.

The Minister of the Interior also emphasized that they continue to support internal migration in Ukraine.

“This means that people leaving the eastern part of Ukraine, where the war is actually ongoing, should be allowed to move to the western part, which logistically can handle such a load,” the minister noted.

According to the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there are currently 386,782 Ukrainians with temporary protection in the country. Local authorities estimate that about 60% of refugees plan to stay in Czechia after the war ends.

It is worth noting that only 20,000 out of a total of 342,000 Ukrainian refugees in Czechia will be able to obtain permission for permanent residence instead of temporary protection. This was reported by the director of the Consortium of Non-Governmental Organizations, Andrea Krhová.

It should be noted that as of today, only 756 refugees from Ukraine live in Czechia for free, whereas in mid-July their number was over 12,000. Since September, a new order has been in effect, according to which humanitarian housing is provided only to individuals who have not been granted temporary protection for more than 90 days.

Furthermore, Ukrainians in Czechia have formed the largest group of recruits who joined the Ukrainian Legion, which is being formed in Poland.
