In Ukraine, the legislation provides for two ways of distributing inheritance: by will or by law, if there is no will. At the same time, close relatives have priority over other heirs, while registration plays a supplementary role, - explains lawyer Maria Levchenko. - It's important to understand that registration only confirms the place of residence, and does not affect property rights.'
To secure inheritance, one must have documents such as a death certificate, a will (if one exists), as well as documents proving inheriting relations and ownership rights to the property. Registration can simplify or complicate this process, but it is not a decisive factor in inheritance.
Ukrainian legislation clearly defines the procedure for inheritance and does not recognize registration as a determining factor in resolving inheritance issues. It is important to have all necessary documents at hand and to comply with legislation to avoid potential difficulties in the future.
