Expert Commentary on the Price Increase
Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the Antimonopoly Committee, stated on March 11 that a sharp rise in gasoline and diesel prices was occurring, noting:
"There are objective reasons for the sharp increase in gasoline and diesel prices. However, this may also be influenced by certain subjective factors." - Pavlo Kyrylenko
In contrast, Serhiy Kuyun pointed out that:
"There are currently no preconditions for a further increase in gasoline and diesel prices." - Serhiy Kuyun
It is important to note that 85% of Ukraine's light petroleum products depend on imports. This high reliance on foreign supply makes the domestic market particularly sensitive to global price shifts and logistical challenges. The rise in diesel prices is likely linked to volatility in the global oil products market. Meanwhile, the stability of gasoline prices may indicate a temporary balance in that market segment, although future forecasts remain uncertain due to potential changes in the international situation and internal economic factors.
