In Sumy Region, a grandfather is suspected of raping his granddaughter: the girl suffered for 5 years.
According to ТСН: In Sumy Region, a 64-year-old man raped his granddaughter for five years.
This was reported by the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office. The head of the prosecutor's office, Oleksandr Panchanko, personally announced the suspicion against a resident of Sumy, who is accused of systematic sexual violence against his minor granddaughter.
According to investigators, the torment began in the summer of 2020 when the nine-year-old girl visited her grandfather. Gaining her trust, the grandfather committed the crime for the first time. Events then became regular.
From 2020 to 2022, systematic sexual intercourse occurred when the child was visiting. At the beginning of the full-scale war, the suspect lived with the girl's family and continued to commit violence, sometimes several times a week.
Only at the age of 15 did the girl find the courage to tell her mother about what she had experienced, and she immediately contacted the police.
Legal Qualification and Preventive Measure
The actions of the suspect have been classified under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: part 4 and part 6 of Article 152 of the CC (rape of a person under 14 years of age, committed repeatedly).
The court granted the prosecutors' request, so the suspect will remain in custody without the possibility of bail.
“The grandfather, who should have been an example and a reliable friend to the child, brutally harmed her. For this crime, he faces life imprisonment. The prosecution will insist on such a sentence during the trial,” said Oleksandr Panchanko.
This case has become a tragic illustration of the problem of violence in families and the necessity of protecting children from abuse. The importance of timely response to such cases and support for victims remains critical in ensuring the safety and well-being of the youngest members of society. Protecting children must become a priority for everyone, and repression against offenders must be inevitable.
