A great option for a short trip: what attracts tourists to the Tustan Fortress.
The Tustan rock fortress, located in the village of Urich in the Lviv region, is the remains of an ancient defensive complex that is part of the historical and cultural reserve. It is also a geological monument and a unique historical find.
The construction of the Tustan fortress took place directly on the rocks. Masters carved recesses in stone blocks and inserted wooden beams for reinforcement.
Researchers claim that the complex was built in the 9th century by the Slavic tribe of White Croats. The castle towers have great historical value as the site of the ancient city-fortress of Tustan and the border customs point between Galicia and Hungary.
The entire surrounding area is well visible from the top. The rocks have preserved carved grooves from wooden fortification structures. In the "Tustan" museum, you can see a computer model of the fortress during its peak in the 16th century.
