Tsunami in Kamchatka Damaged the Base of the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Federation: Details of the Destruction.
The base of the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Federation in the waters of Krasheninnikov Bay near the village of Ribecky in Kamchatka suffered significant destruction as a result of the tsunami caused by an earthquake in the region. This was reported by The Telegraph.
Satellite images show that part of one of the piers of the base has detached from the dock, possibly shifting from its usual place. The company Umbra Space obtained these images using satellites with SAR radar systems that can 'see' through clouds, complicating observations after the tsunami in the area of the naval base in Ribecky.
Experts note that no damage to the underwater fleet of the Russian Federation has been recorded. Analysts also point out the possibility of damage to submarines due to impacts against moorings and water entering access hatches after the tsunami.
The earthquake in the Kamchatka Peninsula on the night of July 30 had a magnitude of up to 8.7 and is considered one of the strongest since 1952. It was also reported about the flood that submerged a city in Russia and the disconnection of a million-strong city in Siberia from the internet due to security measures.
Brief Summary
The tsunami caused by the earthquake in Kamchatka led to serious damage at the military base of the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Federation. Part of the piers was torn from the dock, but no damage to the underwater fleet has been recorded. The earthquake turned out to be one of the strongest in decades, also causing other negative consequences in various regions of Russia.
