Popular tourist destinations in Italy impose various taxes on travelers. In particular, in Italian cities where tourist flows are the highest, taxes are becoming increasingly actively implemented. This is especially true for the Jubilee year 2025, a major holiday that gathers millions of pilgrims in Italy. There are seven cities where tourist taxes are the highest in the country, which can significantly change the cost of vacationing in these places. For example, in Rome, tourists pay a tax for each night in a hotel depending on the category of the establishment. Venice also has taxes for entering certain areas of the city and for accommodation. And so on - in Florence, Milan, Bologna, Naples, and Amalfi. In all these cities, different rules apply regarding tax payment for tourists. At the same time, protests against excessive tourism are gaining popularity in several Southern European countries. Activists have united to oppose the commercialization of popular tourist spots. Even the wedding of a famous billionaire in Venice is causing protests due to the desire to preserve cultural heritage from commercial exploitation.
