After the cessation of hostilities, the interior ministers of the Baltic states, Northern Europe, and Poland are considering banning the entry of Russians who participated in the conflict against Ukraine. Polish Interior Minister Igor Taro emphasized: 'These people cannot travel freely in the Schengen area, we cannot issue them residence permits or visas.'
Also present at the meeting were the European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner and a representative of the EU border agency Frontex. The participants of the meeting emphasized the importance of taking a clear stance regarding Russian citizens who participated in the conflict against Ukraine and outlined plans for the future during the ceasefire.
Interior ministers from the Baltic states, Northern Europe, and Poland are discussing the possibility of banning the entry of Russians who participated in the war against Ukraine. It is noted that these individuals may have restricted opportunities to travel within the Schengen area. The meeting of representatives from several countries and the European Commission resulted in a consensus on positions and future plans regarding Russian citizens who participated in the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
