The Ministry of Defense ordered new bulletproof vests for 663 million: what will change for the military.

The state logistics operator of the Ministry of Defense acted as responsible for the order of enhanced bulletproof vests totaling 662.91 million UAH, as reported in the material 'Our Money' on the portal 'Glavkom'. This procurement became the first for the new technical specification of bulletproof vests and their additional equipment, as noted in the 'Prozorro' system.

According to inkorr.com: These bulletproof vests stand out due to the presence of additional protective elements for the forearms, shins, and tailbone, made from a material similar to the ballistic parts of the main vest. The additional elements provide protection for the relevant areas of the body and have attachments to the vest cover, which allows for maintaining ergonomics and mobility, says Mykyta Chykan, director of the DОT program for material supplies.

• By the end of 2025, the delivery of 15,000 bulletproof vests in MM-14 camouflage (pixel) type 2, made from ceramics composite materials, is planned. Among them:
• 5,000 bulletproof vests 'Plastoon UAFE Gen 2' manufactured by 'Kharkiv Plant of Individual Protection Means' at a price of 38,000 UAH/set;
• 10,000 bulletproof vests 'Korsar M3mp6' from 'NVP Temp-3000' at 38,000 UAH/set.

The increase in prices for bulletproof vests is related to the expansion of the package

The price increase for bulletproof vests, compared to last year, by $200,000 is due to the expansion of the package. For example, bulletproof vests of standard 1-8 cost from $711,000 to $712,000, while vests 1-11, which cost $913,000, turned out to be more expensive. In addition, the state-owned enterprise 'State Logistics Operator' ordered bulletproof vests for use in water, which have elements of positive buoyancy (EPB), ensuring protection in a water environment.

Thus, the news about the order of bullet protection for the amount of 662.91 million UAH and the features of the bulletproof vests confirms that the expanded package allows for better protection for military personnel, including conducting operations in a water environment.
