Massive power outage in Dnipropetrovsk region: Ukrzaliznytsia switched trains to reserve traction

According to ТСН: Due to massive power outages in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, Ukrzaliznytsia switched to reserve capacities for train movement.

The company reported that all trains in these regions are currently operating under reserve traction.

Signal and communication systems are also connected to backup power. Stations are equipped with generators, and hot tea, chargers, and uninterrupted communication via Starlink are available at resilience points in the stations.

Train Schedule

With controlled delays, the following trains are departing under reserve locomotives:

  • 734 Kyiv — Dnipro

  • 37 Zaporizhzhia — Kyiv

  • 119 Dnipro — Kholm

  • 79 Dnipro — Lviv

The movement of the Dnipro City Express (Dnipro — Kamianske) is also planned to resume under traction soon.

Reminder that as a result of attacks by the Russian Federation, serious issues arose with heating, electricity, and water in Kryvyi Rih.

The city of Dnipro also found itself in a complete blackout due to Russian strikes on the energy infrastructure. All thermal power plants (TPPs) and substations in the region are stopped.

In addition, power, water, and heating disappeared in Zaporizhzhia and the region.

The situation in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions remains critical due to mass power outages caused by military actions. As of today, Ukrzaliznytsia is taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of transportation and maintain communication with passengers, providing them with access to basic needs at the stations.

These events highlight the importance of infrastructure in the face of military challenges and the need to keep human resources and services as accessible as possible for the population.
