Criminal Probe Launched into DNA Test That Declared Soldier Dead Before His Return from Captivity.
Forensic Experts Face Criminal Investigation
According to Novyny.live: A pre-trial investigation has been initiated against DNA experts who confirmed the death of soldier Nazar Daletskyi. He had been considered dead since September 2022, and following a DNA test showing a 99.9% match, he was officially buried in 2023. However, on February 5, 2023, he returned alive from Russian captivity. This case highlights the immense challenges of identifying casualties during the ongoing war in Ukraine, where thousands remain missing.
Family Ordered to Repay Financial Aid
Complicating the situation, Nazar Daletskyi's relatives have been ordered to return 15 million hryvnias in state compensation paid following his presumed death. Ukraine's Ministry of Defense has stated there are no grounds for the family to repay these funds.
Oleksandr Kachura, a relative of Daletskyi, expressed outrage, stating: 'And he asked me: why did my mother have to bury me, why did she have to cry at my grave, why did officials force her to suffer? She is now ill. And will anyone be held responsible for this?'
The details of the case require thorough investigation, as the situation has caused public and familial outrage. Nazar Daletskyi's story is a stark example of the complex and painful circumstances faced by military families during wartime.
This incident underscores the critical need for accuracy in forensic DNA analysis, as errors can lead to severe emotional and financial consequences. In a war context marked by widespread loss and uncertainty, such cases can exacerbate social tensions and raise serious questions about the systems in place to support the families of fallen soldiers.
