Pensioners fined up to 300 UAH for travel: how to avoid punishment
Many elderly people may receive fines of up to 300 UAH for violating the rules of free travel on public transport. This can seriously affect their budget, as pension payments are small.

Pensioners are entitled to free travel on public transport, but they need to have their pension certificate with them. If the document is at home or is not available in electronic form, one must pay for the travel according to the regular rules. Otherwise, the controller may impose a fine, the amount of which is set by local authorities.

For example, in Kyiv, the fine can be 160 UAH, in Odesa - 140 UAH, and in Lviv - up to 300 UAH.

According to the legislation, pensioners can use trams, trolleybuses, urban and suburban buses, and electric trains for free. However, for riding the metro, taxi, or minibus taxis, one will have to pay.

Some types of transportation will still have to be paid for, even after reaching the age of 60. Additionally, gathering berries in the forest without permission can lead to a fine for violating the law.

Ukrainian pensioners should be careful and have the necessary documents with them for a smooth trip on public transport, to avoid unpleasant surprises and to protect their pension budget from unnecessary expenses.
