Volunteer Defending the Homeland: Remembering Ivan Saleckyy.
Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all those whose lives were taken by the Russo-Ukrainian War. Today, we remember Ivan Saleckyy.
On November 15, 2024, defending his homeland from invaders, the defender Ivan Saleckyy from Lviv Oblast fell. This was reported by the Lviv City Council.
Ivan Saleckyy was born on August 31, 1987, in the village of Pidkamin in Lviv Oblast.
He studied at the former Secondary General Education School No. 64 in Lviv. He received his education at the State Educational Institution 'Lviv Higher Professional Art School.'
After finishing his studies, he worked as a carpenter and also engaged in repair work. According to his relatives, he had a 'golden mind' and 'golden hands.' He adored animals.
From the first months of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Ivan Saleckyy volunteered to defend his homeland from the invaders.
The warrior defended the sovereignty and independence of the state in the ranks of the 125th Separate Brigade of Territorial Defense of the 'West' Regional Management of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Later, he served in the 540th Anti-Aircraft Rocket Lviv Regiment named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
On November 15, 2024, Ivan Saleckyy died defending his native Ukraine from the occupiers.
The funeral ceremony for the warrior took place on November 19, 2024, at the Garrison Church of Saints Peter and Paul. The defender of Ukraine found eternal rest at the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv.
Ivan Saleckyy is survived by his mother, wife, and two daughters.
'Hlavkom' joins the moment of silence. We honor the memory of all Ukrainians who died in the struggle for the homeland. We remember those killed by Russian invaders, light candles of memory, and bow our heads in sorrow during the nationwide moment of silence, honoring the bright memory of Ukrainian citizens who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the state: all military personnel, civilians, and children, all who perished in the fight against Russian occupiers and as a result of the invasion of hostile troops on Ukrainian cities and villages.
