Snow Tunnels in Ivano-Frankivsk Region: Roadworkers Cleared the Way Through the Drifts.
According to ТСН: In Ivano-Frankivsk region, due to heavy snowfall, drifts taller than a person have formed. Special equipment literally 'bored' through the roads in these snow tunnels.
This was reported by Oleksiy Biloshytskyi, first deputy head of the Patrol Police Department, who shared relevant footage.
“In certain sections of the R-24 highway, the height of the snow cover exceeds the height of an adult,” he wrote.
On the previous day, traffic restrictions were introduced on the section of the R-24 highway 'Tataryv — Kamianets-Podilskyi' (km 134-170). Patrol police crews ensured the operation of special equipment and helped drivers who got caught in the snow trap.
Oleksiy Biloshytskyi also published a video of the work of special equipment, which, according to him,
“literally bores through the road in snow tunnels to restore communication”.
According to the Horodenka territorial community, in the evening, the restrictions on passing on the section of the R-24 highway 'Tataryv — Kamianets-Podilskyi' (km 134 — km 170) were lifted.
“Due to the improvement of weather conditions, from 22:00 on January 10, traffic has been restored for all types of vehicles. This decision was made by the Infrastructure Recovery and Development Service jointly with Ukrtransbezpeka and the patrol police,” the message states.
We remind you that on January 8, traffic on the highways in western Ukraine was paralyzed due to heavy snowfall and ice.
This situation indicates the seriousness of the weather conditions, which kept not only drivers but also law enforcement agencies in check for several days. Traffic restrictions were necessary to ensure safety on the roads, but now, thanks to the efforts of special equipment and improvements in weather conditions, traffic on the main highways has been restored, which is important for transport communication in the region.
