Cyber police detained a group of individuals for organizing match-fixing

According to media reports, among the participants is former 'Dynamo' player Artem Milevskyi. The criminal group organized match-fixing in esports, table tennis, football, and basketball, law enforcement officials report.

According to the Cyber Police Department, the offenders involved well-known athletes to increase their influence among esports athletes and attract more online viewers. The broadcasts of the 'fixed' matches were watched by tens of thousands of viewers simultaneously.

The police established that the group members, including former world-class athletes, used their connections to organize match-fixing between athletes from Australia, Europe, and Ukraine.

The offenders used bribery, intimidation, and coercion to pressure the competition participants. In some cases, they involved previously convicted athletes who threatened other participants with weapons. About 10 victims have been recorded.

The organizers placed bets through bookmakers

Knowing the results in advance, the organizers placed bets through bookmakers in Asian, European, Australian, and American countries. The money earned was laundered by purchasing premium cars, real estate, and other assets using cryptocurrency wallets. According to the police, 45 searches were conducted throughout Ukraine.

One of the organizers has been suspected

One of the organizers has already been charged with illegal influence on the results of official sports competitions. The maximum penalty for these crimes is up to 12 years in prison and confiscation of property.

According to RBK-Ukraine, Artem Milevskyi has not been detained and no charges have been filed. The photographs circulated online were taken during searches a few months ago.
