Ex-deputy of the Kyiv City Council told how one drawing ruined her son’s trip abroad.
Polish border guards confiscated the foreign passport of Olena Tereshchenko's child, a former deputy of the Kyiv City Council. The reason for this was a stamp that had been circled with a ballpoint pen. Tereshchenko announced this on her Facebook page.
“At the Polish border, the child’s passport with a British visa was confiscated just because he circled a car on one of the entry stamps with a pen a long Time ago (and nobody noticed it, he crossed borders without problems for several years),” wrote Tereshchenko.
According to Tereshchenko, it is possible to verify that the stamp with the pen is valid using a computer.
“There are no grounds for confiscation. The stamp is not fake, the passport is not fake. The passport belongs to Ukraine, especially with a valid British visa,” the former deputy expressed her indignation.
She recounted that her son was supposed to make a three-day trip to London with his group. This was his long-awaited dream.
“The group is already at the airport, preparing to board the plane. My six-year-old child has been crying continuously for several hours. And I don’t know how to act in this situation... Without the passport, we cannot leave here, as we will not be able to prove that the passport was legitimate,” added Tereshchenko.
Let us remind you that the launch of the new Entry-Exit System for individuals crossing the Schengen Area borders has been postponed for the third time.
It was planned to start using the new rules, under which non-EU citizens must leave fingerprints or photographs at the border, entering them into a unified database, from the third attempt. This initiative was postponed twice due to the position of France, Germany, and the Netherlands, which account for 40% of all cases of foreign nationals entering the EU. Now, despite the official announcement from the European Commission, countries are still not ready to change the border crossing procedure. It is expected that the foreign ministers of EU countries will propose alternative options.
