Former CIA Director Assesses Defense Forces Operation in Kursk Region.
The Kursk operation hit the Kremlin's authority and demonstrated the weakness and powerlessness of Russian forces. This was stated by former CIA Director, American General David Petraeus in his interview for "24 Channel".
The Ukrainian Armed Forces deployed four brigades to the Kursk region, equipping them with drones, air defense systems, and logistics. This came as a surprise to the Russians even under modern surveillance conditions - said Petraeus.
The former CIA Director believes that Russia's response to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' advance was illogical and took too much Time. According to him, Russian troops are trying to isolate Ukrainian forces to oust them and concentrate frontline resources, particularly near Pokrovsk. The general concluded that the Ukrainian Armed Forces operation in the Kursk region justifies all the directed efforts.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that it is too early to assess the final results of the Defense Forces' Kursk operation, but certain outcomes are already evident. According to him, this operation has several important aspects, including boosting the morale of Ukrainian troops and demonstrating the country's ability to advance.
In the Kursk region, the Ukrainian Armed Forces, with the help of a drone, destroyed the commander of the Russian Armed Forces' airborne assault regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Kurin, known as "Skipper".
It was also reported that the Russian military command anticipated the invasion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces into the Kursk region and had been developing plans for several months to prevent this. This is evidenced by documents from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB, and the Russian army that Ukrainian fighters found in the Kursk region and shared with The Guardian.
