Expert assessed the replacement of Russian gas in the EU with American gas.
Energy security of Europe has not and will not particularly concern Donald Trump, as the newly elected US president has always paid significantly more attention to domestic problems of the country and their resolution than any external issues.
This was emphasized by energy expert Hennadiy Riabtsev on the air of the FREEДОМ TV channel, commenting on Ursula von der Leyen's proposal to Donald Trump to replace the import of Russian LNG to the EU with American LNG.
"If we talk about the energy component, the policy of the newly elected US president will be primarily aimed at reducing taxes, increasing the volume of production of its own energy resources, and bringing back the processing industry to the US. Essentially, this will be a kind of reindustrialization",the expert said.
According to him, regarding Ursula von der Leyen's proposal to Trump, it is purely political.
"Undoubtedly, this proposal is political. After all, no president, including Donald Trump, could or will be able to directly increase export volumes, as exports are carried out not by state-owned companies, but by private ones. Exclusively private companies. And therefore, the only thing Trump can do in this case is to create some regulatory prerequisites for this export to be most advantageous. But I think no special conditions for Europe in this matter will be made. As the United States, or rather the companies engaged in exporting liquefied natural gas, mostly do not care where to direct these flows. The main thing is to pay more",the expert noted.
He added, a lot will depend on LNG prices.
"If, for example, the LNG price in Asian markets is higher, then the gas will go there, not to Europe. Since, once again, the price is the main criterion for directing liquefied natural gas flows, the market of which has long acquired a global character",
