Electric oven consumes as much energy as 60 refrigerators: how to save.
According to inkorr.com: In Ukraine, data has been released about household appliances that consume the most electricity, according to information from the Leravi resource. Electric ovens stand out especially, as they can consume as much electricity as over 60 refrigerators combined.
Among household appliances, there are true 'energy monsters', and one of them can consume as much electricity as over 60 refrigerators taken together.
The consumption of electric ovens ranges from 2 to 5 kilowatts per hour. With regular use, their costs can amount to between 40 and 90 kWh per month, which significantly exceeds the consumption of refrigerators. This is due to the need to maintain a high temperature while cooking, and the energy consumption of the oven can be equivalent to several dozen refrigerators.
Throughout the year, an electric oven can consume up to 224 kWh, which is significantly more than most other everyday household appliances. Long cooking programs at high temperatures are particularly energy-intensive.
Ways to reduce oven energy consumption
- Plan cooking so that several dishes are prepared at once during one use.
- Turn off the oven a little earlier than the end of cooking — residual heat will help finish cooking the dish.
- Avoid frequent opening of the door to avoid losing heat.
- After use, disconnect the appliance from the power supply if it continues to consume energy in standby mode.
Other devices to disconnect
Experts also recommend disconnecting unused appliances, such as televisions and chargers. This will help save electricity and increase fire safety in the home.
It is reminded that from October 1, electricity tariffs will change.
The publication highlights that electric ovens belong to the largest 'energy monsters' among household devices, and their use can significantly impact electricity bills. Recommendations for rational use of ovens are offered, as well as advice on disconnecting other appliances to save electricity and improve fire safety in households.
