Elite Russian Units Seriously Affected in War Against Ukraine – Media.

Russian elite special forces suffered significant losses in Ukraine
According to a report by The National Interest, Russian elite special forces have suffered serious losses during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
According to the publication, these special forces were affected during the counteroffensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2022. Initially, the Russian command planned to use them for a swift victory, including by attacking the Hostomel airport near Kyiv and Ukrainian leadership. However, these attempts were unsuccessful.
Further involvement of the special forces by Russian troops took place in Mariupol, Kherson, Lyman, and Kharkiv. The number of losses in four out of five brigades was significant. For instance, one of the brigades lost nearly 90% of its soldiers, leaving only 125 active fighters out of 900.
Commander of the Estonian Military Intelligence Center Janek Kesselmann reported that Russia lost over 40,000 servicemen who were either wounded or killed at the front in Ukraine during October. This resulted from active attacks carried out by the Russian army.
It was previously reported that the total number of dead and wounded Russian military personnel in the war against Ukraine amounts to about one million people.
