EU and NATO to strengthen cooperation at the highest level.
EU and NATO create a new working group to enhance cooperation
The European Union and the North Atlantic alliance decided to establish a new high-level working group to strengthen cooperation. This was announced following the meeting of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, with the NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, reports European Pravda.
During the meeting, von der Leyen and Rutte agreed on the need for a "close and strategic partnership between the European Union and the Alliance," particularly in the context of the full-scale Russian aggression against Ukraine.
They emphasized that the deployment of North Korean soldiers in support of Russia's aggressive war "is a significant escalation of the war against Ukraine, as well as a serious threat to European security and global peace."
"To counter these threats and challenges, von der Leyen and Rutte agreed to establish a new high-level working group to enhance the existing cooperation between the EU and NATO,"– stated the European Commission's message.
It is expected that the planning of the first meeting of the group will begin "in the coming weeks," they added.
