The EU has launched a new system at the border: how crossing will change for Ukrainians.
Implementation of the new border control system
According to inkorr.com: The European Union began the implementation of a new border control system on October 12. Ukraine is actively collecting biometric data at three border crossing points: Shehyni, Solotvyno, and Luzhanka. This was reported by the spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, as it became known from the information of 'Hlavkom'.
“This does not mean that immediately on October 12 all border crossing points will be connected to this system. This will happen gradually. If we talk about the automotive border crossing points on the border with Ukraine and European countries, only three crossing points have joined this system. In particular, these are Shehyni, Solotvyno, and Luzhanka,” said Demchenko.
At those crossing points where the new system has already been implemented, no problems or failures have been recorded.
New border crossing rules
We remind you that from October 12, new rules for crossing the external borders for citizens of third countries, including Ukraine, have come into effect in the European Union. The launch of the Entry/Exit System (EES) automates the process of collecting biometric data from travelers.
By implementing the new border control system, the European Union has demonstrated effectiveness at three crossing points in Ukraine. These innovations carry out automated collection of biometric data from travelers, which is intended to simplify border crossing for citizens of third countries.
