The European Commission confirmed Ukraine's compliance with all EU candidacy requirements.
According to the draft report by the European Commission, Ukraine met all the requirements necessary for EU candidacy by 2022, including issues concerning national minorities.
According to "European Pravda", the European Commission positively assessed the amendments to the legislation on national minorities from December 2023. Interestingly, the EC deemed the law sufficient even without analysis by the Venice Commission.
The report emphasizes that the restrictions on rights during martial law remain "generally proportional". "Radio Liberty" also positively assesses the judicial reform and the strengthening of the anti-corruption system in Ukraine.
However, the European Commission pointed out areas for further work, in particular, enhancing the fight against high-level corruption and organized crime, improving public administration and decentralization, especially in the energy sector.
The report noted that Ukraine ratified the Rome Statute and successfully passed a review of its legislation according to European requirements. If all requirements are met, the EC plans to start negotiations on clusters in 2025.
Recall that in December last year, the EU started negotiations on Ukraine's accession. In September, the Government Office for Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration presented the European Commission with a report on Ukraine's progress from April to August. Ukraine is ready to join the EU by the end of 2025, stated Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
