According to UATV: On March 12, 2023, the European Commission proposed sending a mission to Ukraine to assess the condition of the 'Druzhba' oil pipeline. The 'Druzhba' pipeline is a critical piece of European energy infrastructure, historically used to transport Russian oil to the continent.

Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal reported that the pipeline's internal equipment sustained substantial damage, raising concerns both domestically and in neighboring nations. In response, Hungary and Slovakia have already declared their intention to send monitoring teams to the site. Budapest is also insisting on the restoration of oil transit via this vital energy route.

European Commission spokesperson Anna-Kaisa Itkonen stated: 'We are engaged in intensive negotiations and maintain contact with Ukraine on this matter.'
