Macron spoke about possible direct negotiations of Europe with Putin: what does it mean.
According to ТСН: Europe may restore direct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin if the peace efforts initiated by the United States are unsuccessful.
Statement by the President of France
This opinion was expressed by French President Emmanuel Macron, concerned that European leaders are currently playing a secondary role in important discussions regarding the future agreement between Ukraine and Russia.
Macron noted that the dialogue being conducted by representatives of the American administration with Moscow is taking place without significant participation from Europe.
"Either a strong and lasting peace with the necessary security guarantees will be achieved, or in the coming weeks we will have to find ways for Europeans to re-engage in a comprehensive dialogue with Russia", he emphasized.
The President of France also stressed that any independent initiatives from Europe in relations with Moscow must be completely transparent. He believes that European countries cannot remain bystanders on security issues on their own continent.
Negotiations in Miami
It is worth noting that this weekend negotiations are planned in Miami between representatives of the United States and Russia regarding a possible ceasefire between Kyiv and Moscow. According to Politico, Washington intends to present the Kremlin with an updated peace plan prepared during consultations in Berlin, in an effort to persuade the Russian side to agree to cease hostilities.
It is expected that Russia will be represented by the head of the National Welfare Fund Kirill Dmitriev, and the U.S. will be represented by special envoy of Donald Trump's administration Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Separately, a Ukrainian delegation led by Rustem Umerov will arrive in Miami for consultations with the American side.
These negotiations will be an important step in seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict, and Europe's participation in this process could change the dynamics of the negotiations. Observers note that an active position from Europeans could ensure greater stability in the region and create new opportunities for achieving understanding between the parties.
