Fedorov announced the launch of 5G internet with unprecedented speed.
The Government of Ukraine has approved changes to the decree on the use of radio frequencies, allowing the implementation of 5G technology in the country.
This was reported by Mykhailo Fedorov, Minister of Digital Transformation.
According to the minister, the pilot project will be implemented in two stages over two years in three cities of Ukraine. During the trials, experts from NCEC and the Ukrainian State Radio Frequency Center will conduct compatibility testing of 5G with military equipment.
"5G technology provides data transfer speeds ten times higher than 4G, opening unprecedented opportunities for exchanging significant amounts of information at ultra-high speeds," Fedorov emphasized.
The approved decree also expands the capabilities of communication operators, allowing the use of frequencies 2100 MHz not only for 3G but also for 2G and 4G technologies. The range 694-862 MHz is also freed from analog and digital television, creating an additional resource for mobile communication.
It is worth noting that the first steps in implementing 5G in Ukraine have already been taken. In May this year, Vodafone conducted the first 5G trial in the country. Also, in 2021, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, together with partners, opened a test zone 5G Lab in Kyiv's UNIT.City.
The full launch of the 5G network in Ukraine is planned by 2030.
Currently, the 4G standard operates in the country, with coverage expansion continuing in rural areas according to the government decree from November 2020.
Recall, earlier Mykhailo Fedorov announced the launch of an electronic weapon permit and five more new services in Diia.
