Forbes suggested that Putin may return territory to Ukraine under 'Trump's Plan'.
According to Forbes, U.S. President Donald Trump proposed a plan in which Russia would return the territories of Kursk region, lost by Ukraine, in exchange for the occupied 20% of Ukrainian lands.
Analyst David Axe noted that Russian marines, together with North Korean soldiers, launched an offensive on Ukraine's positions in the Kursk region. It is likely related to Trump's plan for a truce and peaceful resolution of the conflict. According to this plan, Russia will return Kursk region to Ukraine, and Ukraine will regain control over the 20% of its territory currently controlled by Russia. Therefore, Putin is trying to implement the plan by involving North Korean troops.
It was also noted that the attack by the Russian 810th Marine Brigade and North Korean soldiers ended in failure. According to Kriegsforscher, of the 14 armored personnel carriers involved in the battle, 10 were destroyed or damaged. Analyst Axe believes that as a result of the attack, the brigade may lose approximately 140 people.
The analyst also noted that the Kremlin is willing to sacrifice many lives to thwart Ukraine's advance in the Kursk region. However, this is only beneficial if Trump's 'peace plan' is implemented.
The analyst emphasized that Trump's plan to create a demilitarized zone has numerous drawbacks, namely the lack of mechanisms to ensure security in that zone. Therefore, Russian and North Korean troops may continue to attack Kursk region to create conditions for a truce that may never materialize.
