Madagascar: president flees due to army uprising and youth protests.
The President of Madagascar flees due to youth protests
According to The Sun: Protests organized by the youth of Madagascar forced President Andry Rajoelina to leave the country. The rallies, initiated by representatives of Generation Z, erupted against the backdrop of discontent with government policy, and the situation escalated due to a mutiny in the army.
The president was urgently evacuated on a French military plane to a secret location, but he has no intention of resigning. Discontent began with three weeks of protests against the government.
“We just can’t tolerate this situation anymore,” said one of the protesters.
The youth of the country demands change and greater accountability from the authorities. The situation in Madagascar indicates deep social issues and public discontent, which are likely to continue erupting into street actions until results are achieved.
