The life and service of Bohdan Verkhomiy
The defender of Ukraine, Bohdan Verkhomiy, died on May 27, 2025, as reported by
"Glavkom"referring to the Lviv City Council.
Bohdan was born on November 19, 1995, in Lviv. He studied at the Peremyshlyany Secondary School of General Education No. 1 and the Halytskyi Lyceum of the Lviv City Council.
After graduation, he served in the National Guard of Ukraine.
According to his relatives, Bohdan was a kind, brave, and hardworking young man who had many friends. He was passionate about cars, repairing them, and fishing.
Bohdan also participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO).
Struggle for the Homeland
Since 2023, he took up the defense of Ukraine against the Russian invasion, protecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country in the Donetsk direction as part of the Special Purpose Police Battalion "Operational-Immediate Response" of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.
Bohdan was buried on September 5 at the Lychakiv Cemetery, in the field of honorary burials of modern heroes. He is survived by his parents, sisters, goddaughter, grandmother, grandfather, godparents, and a large family.

We remember those who were killed by the Russian invaders, lighting candles of remembrance and bowing our heads in sorrow during the nationwide minute of silence, honoring the bright memory of those citizens of Ukraine who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of our state, including all military personnel, civilians, and children, all those who perished in the fight against the enemy.
In connection with the death of defender Bohdan Verkhomiy, Ukrainians honor his memory every day at 9:00 and pay tribute to all those who died in the fight for the country's independence.
This tragic loss once again emphasizes how important it is to remember those who gave their lives for the freedom of Ukraine. Daily honors remind society of the price of war and the heroism with which Ukrainians fight for their land and future.
