Hero Pavlo Unguryan killed by FPV drone: the story of a defender from Chernivtsi.

Pavlo Unguryan died on January 9, 2025, while carrying out a combat mission in the Kharkiv region when he was wounded during an attack by an enemy FPV drone. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing the Chernivtsi Regional Council.

“He was a person of exceptional courage and patriotism. His heroism was manifested not only on the battlefield but also in everyday life. Pavlo Unguryan always demonstrated a deep love for his homeland and was ready to defend it to his last breath. His comrades remember him as an extremely intelligent and positively minded person. He could support his friends in the most difficult moments, instilling faith in victory and justice. His optimism and indomitable spirit were a source of inspiration for those around him,” the city council reported.

Pavlo Petrovich Unguryan was born on June 27, 1997, in the village of Komarіvці, Chernivtsi region. He was always an active and sociable person.

“Since childhood, he played football, volleyball, swam in the river, trained on the horizontal bars, and spent time with friends, of whom he had many,” recalls the defender's father, Petro Unguryan.

Combat path and dedication

At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Pavlo Unguryan decided to defend his homeland.

“Ukraine was always in the first place for Pavlo. We worried about him and asked him to stop, but our son was unwavering,” says his father.

Pavlo began his service as a driver in the 107th separate territorial defense brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he had the call sign Gentleman. He quickly established himself as a devoted and courageous warrior. In the winter of 2022, while carrying out a combat mission in Kurdyumivka, he successfully led a unit out of enemy encirclement. That same winter, he actively participated in the defense of the Bakhmut district in Donetsk region.

Pavlo Unguryan became one of the heroes who sacrificed their lives to defend the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine from Russian aggression. His self-sacrifice and bravery will be remembered and honored by Ukrainians for generations.
