Hero of Ukraine, commander of the anti-aircraft missile battalion Yaroslav Melnyk said that he is currently working on the 'Buk-M1' anti-aircraft missile system. It is hard for the military to part with the equipment he learned to work with. He said this in an interview with 'Glavkom'.
«I gave my opportunity to the younger generation, which studied for five years and which now performs tasks in certain directions. I am currently performing combat missions in a specific direction, not studying. As they say, I'm already old, working on old equipment because I have a lot of experience with 'Buk-M1'. We have many different missile systems. Believe me, it's very difficult to part with the equipment you learned to work with and know how to operate. Let the young immediately learn to work on the new weapons,» said the military officer.
Yaroslav Melnyk noted that his comrades, who previously worked on the 'Buk-M1' system, are mastering new weapon systems from scratch:
«From the stories of comrades who mastered the systems I can say, it's like starting with the alphabet. Everything is new, the principles of work are completely different, different from 'Buk'. That is, everything from scratch. We have guys who don't know English, but they work with a dictionary, they manage. Therefore, I wouldn't say that lack of knowledge of English at some level is a big obstacle to mastering new systems,».
Let us remind you that the Netherlands will soon transfer three launchers to the Patriot missile defense system.
