HUR revealed details: how foreign machines work on Russian tanks.
Tank production in Russia with foreign equipment
According to inkorr.com: The largest Russian tank manufacturer 'Uralvagonzavod' actively uses foreign equipment. This became known from the information of the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR), published by 'Glavkom'.
According to data from the 'War Tools' section of the War&Sanctions portal, 'Uralvagonzavod' operates over 260 machine tools and CNC machining centers, as well as other modern equipment.
Aggressive policies and production at 'Uralvagonzavod'
Most of the foreign equipment was purchased during the modernization of the Russian military-industrial complex from 2007 to 2022, which was an important stage for updating military technology.
According to intelligence data, 'Uralvagonzavod' is significantly expanding its production to support Russian aggression. For instance, in 2024, a new tank engine production line was launched at the plant, utilizing modern foreign equipment.
“To reduce the aggressor's capabilities to continue the war, it is necessary to strengthen diplomatic efforts, exchange information, and complicate the circumvention of sanctions at the international level. Real investigations and intensified punishment of sanction violators are key measures to shelter the channels for supplying military equipment”
In July 2025, the production of metallurgical products in Russia decreased by 10.2% compared to the previous year, which is the worst figure in the last 3.5 years, according to Rosstat data.
Thus, the information about 'Uralvagonzavod' highlights the importance of foreign equipment in the production of military technology by Russia against the backdrop of current geopolitical events.
