Emily Hand, freed from Hamas captivity, calls for peace

According to The Sun: Ten-year-old Emily Hand, who became a hostage, found her voice yesterday and called for peace, marking the second anniversary of the October 7 attacks.

She emerged nearly mute after 50 days in captivity, where she was forced to remain silent under threat of a knife.

Emily's father, Tom, said that his daughter gathered her strength and appealed to the public to stop the fighting.

Tom Hand, 65, shared: “When she returned, she was confused, and I was afraid it would never be easy for her after everything she had been through.”

He also noted: “But she not only regained her voice but started to speak up for those who are still in captivity.”

Emily made an emotional plea for a peace agreement, ending her speech in Hebrew with an appeal to world leaders:

“Bring them home.”

She also spoke in a speech broadcast in Israel, urging Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to secure a deal.

Emily was kidnapped from Kibbutz Beeri, near the Gaza border, when Hamas fighters attacked the town, killing dozens and abducting 30 people.

After 65 days in captivity, Tom's family provided Emily with the necessary support, and he now claims she has “almost completely” recovered.

Tom shared that his daughter tried to sleep alone, but she returns to his bed because of her nighttime fears.

Emily was sleeping over at a friend's house when she was kidnapped, and Tom survived trying to barricade himself in a safe room for 19 hours.

Representatives of Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner arrived in Egypt, hoping for a deal on Trump’s peace plan for Gaza.

They headed to Sharm El Sheikh to participate in negotiations between Hamas and Israel regarding the 20-point plan proposed by Mr. Trump.

Israeli hostages, who have been held in Gaza for two years, may be released within 72 hours of a deal, after which there will be an exchange for nearly 2000 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

Mr. Trump noted that the deal “is going very well,” and that Hamas “is agreeing to important terms.”

Emily's release demonstrates how important family and community support is during difficult times. Emily's speech may serve as a momentum for a peaceful resolution to the conflict, which has affected thousands. Only time will tell if Emily's family and other hostages can find peace and safety after such a traumatic experience.
