Pension Indexation in Ukraine for 2026

According to TSN.ua: A 12% pension increase is scheduled for March 2026 in Ukraine. This adjustment will apply to nearly all retirees, with only specific groups excluded. According to the plan, monthly pension payments will rise by a minimum of 100 hryvnias and a maximum of 2,595 hryvnias. This annual adjustment is a key mechanism to help pensions keep pace with inflation and cost-of-living changes.

While the indexation rate for 2025 was 11.5% and under 8% for 2024, the upcoming 2026 increase will not apply to everyone. Exemptions include individuals whose pensions were first granted in 2025 or early 2026. Additionally, retirees whose payments have already been raised to the minimum guaranteed level, those receiving the maximum pension of 25,950 hryvnias, and retired prosecutors and judges will not see this increase.

Automatic Recalculation of Pension Amounts

Denys Uliutin emphasized that the process will be seamless, stating:

"The recalculation will happen automatically. No applications need to be submitted. Funds for the indexation have been allocated."
This indicates the system will handle the adjustments without requiring any action from pensioners themselves.

The categories of pensions subject to the 2026 indexation include:

  • military pensions
  • old-age pensions
  • disability pensions
  • survivor pensions
  • other special pensions for former local government employees, civil servants, and scientists

Overall, the indexation aims to improve the financial situation for the majority of pensioners in Ukraine. This policy is a crucial part of the social safety net, designed to protect retirees' purchasing power. By automating the recalculation, the government seeks to provide the increase efficiently and without bureaucratic hurdles for recipients.
