OECD Assessment: Ukraine Has Made Progress in Combating Corruption and Political Financing

This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. According to him, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development published an assessment of Ukraine's situation for 2023-2024.

The assessment notes that Ukraine has made significant progress in building the legislative framework and implementing reforms, despite the military conflict in the east of the country. Notable successes have been achieved in the following areas:

  • Anti-corruption strategies: Ukraine meets international standards and has clear goals in the fight against corruption.
  • Transparent political financing: Progress has been made in regulating and controlling political party financing.
  • Internal control and audit: The internal control system has improved, and there is a high level of compliance with recommendations.
We have high indicators in the transparency of political financing, as well as in covering the central functions of internal control and audit. The OECD also noted a high level of adoption of audit recommendations and full coverage of state budget organisations by internal audits.

Denys Shmyhal emphasized that Ukraine is one of the first non-OECD countries to participate in the 'Indicators of Public Integrity' initiative.
