According to TSN.ua: Indonesian police have confirmed the death of 28-year-old Ukrainian national, Ihor Komarov, who was abducted in Bali in February. Komarov's dismembered remains were discovered on February 26 near Ketevel Beach. During a search along the coastline, body parts including the head, torso, arms, and legs were found.
Bone samples were sent to the National Forensic Laboratory in Jakarta for analysis. Experts confirmed a 100% DNA match with genetic material from Komarov's parents. 'The DNA profile from the body parts we submitted was compared to control samples from the victim's parents. The results showed a match,' stated police representative Ariasandi.
Investigation Details
In connection with the crime, one suspect has already been detained for renting a car with a forged passport, while six other individuals are wanted. Four of them have left Indonesian territory. Bloodstains found at a villa and in a Toyota Avanza car were identical to Komarov's DNA. He was abducted on February 15 in the Jimbaran area. This case has caused significant distress within the Ukrainian community and attracted international media attention.
Ihor Komarov's death has been a shocking event not only for his family and friends but also for the wider Ukrainian community, which is concerned about the safety of its citizens abroad. Kidnappings and murders of foreigners in popular tourist destinations can negatively impact Indonesia's image as a safe country for visitors.
