Ireland spent 2 billion euros on Ukrainian refugees: details of assistance.
Ireland's spending on Ukrainian refugees in 2020
According to inkorr.com: In 2020, Ireland spent over 2 billion euros to support Ukrainian refugees. This was reported by the Ukrainian ambassador to Ireland, Larysa Gerasko. She noted that the government reduced housing payments for refugees from 800 euros to 600 euros per month.
Despite these changes, refugees continue to receive free healthcare and education. Overall, the attitude of the Irish people towards Ukrainians is positive. According to the ambassador, Ukrainians are successfully integrating into the local community.
"Of course, there are far-right forces that raise an anti-immigrant wave, but this is less about Ukrainians, who have a low crime rate," Gerasko emphasized.
Larysa Gerasko also pointed out that some Ukrainian refugees living in hotels do not adhere to the established stay terms, which is two weeks per year. They pay 10 euros a day for meals, while other expenses are covered by the state budget.
This information highlights how Ireland is supporting Ukrainian refugees during a difficult time. Although some changes in the funding system are occurring, the country remains committed to providing assistance and integrating Ukrainians into society. The positive attitude of the Irish towards Ukrainians is an important element for their adaptation and building a new life in Ireland.
