Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that his country has completely destroyed Syria's naval fleet. This was reported by The Times of Israel.

Katz reported that Israeli ships destroyed the Syrian naval fleet on December 9. Currently, Israeli forces are in the buffer zone between Syria and the Golan Heights.

According to the defense minister, Israel will create a 'sterile defensive zone' in southern Syria, which will not include a permanent Israeli presence. This is considered necessary to prevent any terrorist threats to the country.

Israel Crossed the Syrian Border in Half a Century

It is noted that the Israeli army crossed the Syrian border for the first Time in more than half a century outside the Golan Heights. The IDF controls the summit of Mount Hermon on the Syrian side of the border. It is likely that Israel has also occupied some other important positions in the area. The deployment of Israeli ground troops outside the demilitarized zone in Syria marks a significant shift in Tel Aviv's policy.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered Israeli forces to seize areas of Syria in the Golan Heights buffer zone. He stated that the separation agreement with Syria, concluded in 1974, is no longer valid, therefore he 'ordered to seize the buffer zone and command positions nearby.'

As reported, Israel struck potential storage sites for chemical weapons and long-range missiles in Syria to prevent them from falling into enemy hands.

However, Turkey will provide comprehensive support to Syria during the transitional period after the removal of the country's president Bashar al-Assad.
