The government of Ukraine has approved new rules for transporting animals in intercity and international buses in cooperation with the organization UAnimals. Now every pet traveling must have a veterinary document.
- Small animals (up to 10 kg) can be in containers or bags, held in hands or kept under the seat.
- Medium and large dogs (from 10 to 45 kg) must be in a muzzle and on a leash, with bedding.
- Dogs weighing over 45 kg are transported according to different rules.
- Guide dogs have the right to free travel, but must wear a muzzle and a short leash.
These rules are introduced for the convenience of passengers and the safety and comfort of animals. They will become mandatory for all bus carriers after publication.
At the same time, the European Union has adopted a law on the conditions of keeping cats and dogs, which regulates the care of pets in EU countries. This is an important step for the welfare of animals in Europe.
